Lockets

Lockets have been around for centuries. Used to carry powder or poison, keepsakes, good luck charms, hair, ashes, and most recently pictures.

(This is a beautiful locket given to me by Tetcha of Pensive Thoughts
as a gift for my Blog's 1st Year Anniversary)

Lockets have been made in many metals, such as: brass, copper, aluminum, iron, sterling gold and platinum. Round and heart shaped lockets were probably the most popular at the time, with many of them being monogrammed with the owners initials.

(This is my first ever locket, which I found lying on a ground in 1993. I put John and my photo)

Although the heart had taken shape centuries before in Rome, the creation of heart shaped lockets didn't become popular until the romantic Victorian era, when lockets were thought to hold a woman's feelings for the one whose photo was encased within.

(When Julia and Rafael were born, I bought this locket at Kamiseta Boutique)

(I bought a bigger locket when Juan was born at Park Square)

What shall I do then with Tetcha's gift locket? Is it a sign another baby is coming? Oh no, gotta have Juan stop breastfeeding first...(LOL)

I keep my heart inside a litte locket
When I'm alone, I hope it grows
I put my hands, my hands is at my pocket
Coz I wanna feel...ah, ah ,ah, I just don't know
Will I feel you down here, well ah I don't know
Will I feel you down here, well I hope so,
But I don't know
I miss mother, I miss my father
Give them back the son, give them back the daughter
I'll listen close, listen close to what you'd tell me
I wanna know, I need to know
Will I feel you down here, well ah I don't know
Will I feel you down here, well I hope so,
But I don't know

  1. Thanks for the mention, Joy! I didn't really know you are fond of lockets until I gave this gift to you and you told me. I'm glad you liked my simple present for your first blog anniversary. Belated Happy Birthday, too! I'll buy something purple for you (tell me what you want!)and sorry, I missed your birthday bash. We've gone to Makati Med several times already for my son's rashes, which started in his hands then his whole body. I'll write a long post about that next week. Justin is still recovering. See you around, Joy!
