Of Corndogs and Life's Lessons

Earlier today, I prepared corndogs for my twin kids, Julia and Rafael. From the many cooking events I joined, Chefs would always remind about the presentation and plating - I was not able to achieve that! Look how mess up the corndogs turned out. . .

Naturally, Julia and Rafael were a bit puzzled on what I prepared for them. There were hesitations on their part to taste the not-so-presentable corndogs. I wanted to feel bad and tell them, I woke up early to cook and blah, blah, blah. Instead, I politely asked them to taste just a little. Turned out, they liked Mommy's Messy Corndog.

Then I took the opportunity to impart a little of life's lesson to my 8 year old twins:

"Guys, you have to remember that like this corndogs, life will not always present it well. Sometimes you'll encounter an ugly situation. What will you do then, will you turn back or go over it? The easy way is to turn back, right? But that would mean giving up easily. If you didn't taste this corndogs would you know if it's yummy? Always, remember that the important thing is never to give up easily".

I paused and thought to myself, naintindihan kaya nila ang pinagsasabi ng nanay nila? Both Julia and Rafael asked me to wrap Mommy's Messy Corndog for their school snack. I'm still wondering though, naintindihan kaya nila ang mga pinagsasabi ko kanina?
