Toy Stories: Benefits of Playing Lego

Lego have withstood many toys from past to present because of endless ways of playing with the colorful bricks. I remember my Kuya Bob, who used to build beautiful houses when we were little kids. And those houses that he built now reminds me of the houses I see in big villages.

Why allow and even encourage young ones to play Lego? First of, Lego hones creativity. It allows the children to create endless designs and characters. Meet 8 year old Aezel - whom I met at the Lego event, she wants to be an architect in the future. And playing Lego surely helps in her future endeavor.

Lego develops fine motor development. For younger children, like Juancho, Lego Duplo is the appropriate brick. Lego Duplo is designed for children ages 1 1/2 to 6 years old. Lego Duplo is twice the size and height of the regular Lego to avoid swallowing.

Aside from the benefits mentioned above, playing with the bricks keeps the little guys away from the television and violent computer and video games.

Newer Lego lines contain kits - like the one Julia and Rafael are playing, that comes in many different characters like the pirates, robots, constructions, etc.

  7. Is there a child who wouldn't wanna play with Lego? My boys love them, too. But they prefer megablocks and gears more.
