Smurfs 2

As our date, Julia and I watched Smurfs 2 yesterday at Shang Cinema.  I grew up watching these blue characters on television so I'm happy to be sharing the movie  with my daughter.

Smurfs 2 is the second installment of a projected trilogy, produced by Sony Pictures Animation and distributed by Columbia Pictures. The film is directed by Raja Gosnell. All the main cast returning, plus new cast which includes Christina Ricci and J. B. Smoove as members of the Naughties, and Brendan Gleeson as Patrick Winslow's stepfather.

The Smurfs is based on The Smurfs comic-book series created by the Belgian comics artist Peyo.

This is nice movie to watch for adoptive parents and those with step parents and step children. It shows that it's not just blood that ties a family but love.

Some of the lines that I like:

Narrator Smurf: There is a place. A place that knows no sadness, where even feeling blue is a happy thing. A place inhabited by little blue beings three apples high. It lies deep within an enchanted forest, hidden away beyond the medieval village. Most people believe this place is made up, only to be found in books or children's imagination. Well, we beg to differ.

Jokey: What do you get when you cross a Smurf with a cow? Blue cheese!

And of course, the song - La la lala lala, sing a happy song!

Synopsis: The Smurfs team up with their human friends to rescue Smurfette, who has been kidnapped by Gargamel.  With Gargamel's newest creation - the Naughties, he hopes to rule the world by extracting Smurfs potion.
