Out of 127 candidates from all over the globe, Megan Lynne Young was crowned Miss World 2013. 2nd placer is Marine Lorpheline of France and the 3rd placer is Carranzar Naa Okailey Shooter of Ghana. The coronation was held Saturday, Sept 28, in Bali, Indonesia.
Young, who placed first among the top 10 semifinalists also coveted the Top Model challenge and placed 5th in the Beach Fashion pre-pageant challenge.
The 23-year-old actress, model, host made history as the first-ever Filipino winner of the title since the Philippines' debut in the pageant in 1966.
In the question and answer portion where the candidates were given 30 seconds to tell the judges why they deserve the crown, Young expressed her belief in a "core value of humanity" which guides people's actions. She hopes to use this to show others how they may contribute to society.
