Oleg Cassini The Wedding Dress

I have organized many weddings, including mine. I've assisted many brides and their grooms as well.

Perhaps the most special task a bride must make is choosing her wedding gown. I should know for it took me months and a lot of wedding magazines and wedding books before finally deciding what design I like.

For the brides-to-be out there, if you are looking for inspiration for your wedding gown and you want to exude elegance and glamour on your wedding day, I highly recommend you get  Oleg Cassini's The Wedding Dress Book. I found it at National Bookstore - Powerplant Mall, Php2,715.

Wonderful Wednesdays: Sold

I'm sick and tired (literally and figuratively speaking) for there's still a lot to be fixed before our house blessing. When Juancho came in to my room...

Juan: Mom, you look sold.
Me: What?
Juan: You look sold.
Me: What do you mean by that?
Juan: Sold means sad + old = sold.
Me: Really? I look old? I'm not sad but tired. I'm also sick, baby.

I felt sad with what my son said. When I came in to his room to tuck him to bed, I saw what he wrote on his whiteboard...

Now I'm not sold but rather solve. Solve with the fact that my son is honest enough to tell me his feelings and views. And solve with the fact that even if I'm sad and old my son still finds me pretty.

Gift Idea for Dads

Giving gifts to John is a lot different as compared when we were just starting as sweethearts back in 1993. Gifts used to be anything from belt, shirt, wallet, bag or shoes.  Now, gift must be something useful not only for John also for the whole family.

At Ace hardware, I found this 4x4 multi-purpose ladder at Php 3,795. I haven't bought it yet but this is what I'm thinking to give give for Father's Day.

Gift Idea for the Housewarming

One of hardest part in cleaning the house is a dusty floor.  Imagine cleaning it on a Christmas eve? I felt like Cinderella trying to beat the 12 o'clock deadline of fairy godmother.

These days I don't clean the floor anymore because John, even the kids, enjoys mopping the floor with the help of Familia iMop.

We bought this at Ace Hardware at less than P700. This iMop is a nice gift for housewarming, or even for weddings. This is highly recommended for family, just like us, who doesn't have house help.

In Search of Bamboo

Did you know that a bamboo is actually of grass family? Bamboos are some of the fastest-growing plants in the world. I should know because our neighbor has Thai bamboo that doubles its length and width in weeks so they have to have it cut once a month.

Bamboos are of notable used for building materials, for roofing and carpentry works. It is also a food source. High-quality bamboo is stronger than steel so last week I went on an adventure from Novaliches to Bulacan in seach for bamboo that we plan to use as wall cover for our terrace.

I first went to Novaliches, ask around but to no avail but I got to try this hanging bamboo ride which scared me to the bones.

Then I went to my bestfriend Gigi in Cefels. It took me five hours in Gigi's place not because of the bamboo but because I so loved being at their home. Mama is such a warm, welcoming mother and a great cook, too! I also visited Guia's new house, which I forgot to take a photo because I was super happy to see her and her family.

I thought it was the end of my bamboo journey when I remembered my friend Malou who lives nearby. I contacted her, met, walked around, talked alot.  And yes, I was able to find the perfect bamboo for our terrace that night.  Since the 120 pieces bamboo will not fit in my car, Malou helped me rent a vehicle. Contact Malou at 09263825556 for your bamboo requirements.

And here comes the bamboo...

Happiness In The Eyes of The Children

We originally planned to have our house blessing last December 8, 2013 to coincide with the twins 11th birthday.  Unfortunately, there's still a lot to be fixed in our UK house. Our budget is depleted that we had to stop the contractor and get a new one that works faster at a lower budget.

A lot of our friends are asking when they can visit us but I specifically told John that I don't want any one to see the house in this messy and dusty state.

Yesterday, my friends Zen and Amy and their respective families came to visit. I was apologetic the whole time for having them over while the house is at this stage.

Looking at the children, they didn't mind the mess and the dust. All they could see was a place to play and have fun.

My childhood memories then flashed back. We didn’t have a lot of money to spend on things or even different experiences, but that didn’t matter. We had a lot of fun time playing piko, habulan, taguan, patintero, tumbang preso, langit at lupa and more.

So I told my self, why should I be worried if our house will not be as grand as we planned it to be, when all I should see is the happiness through the eyes of the children. Yes, there's still a huge work to be done here but this house is definitely a place to shape some really wonderful, happy, fun, and exciting memories for the children.  Nothing else matters now.

but shines into the eye and the heart of a child.”

Fashionable Friday: Empire Salon

Being fashionable does not only mean wearing fashionable clothes.  The hair is as much important as the dress, as the old adage say, "the hair is the crowning glory".

At Empire Salon (located inside Intercon Hotel, in Makati) I had an opportunity to try on different hairstyle before deciding which to keep for 2014.

Straight

Curly

Wavy
