Tribulation

Tribulation is defined as a cause or state of great trouble or suffering. Its synonyms are suffering, distress, trouble, misery, wretchedness, unhappiness, sadness, heartache, woe, grief, sorrow, pain, anguish, agony.

Certainly none of us are immune to tribulation.  A wife's unhappiness may be caused by her philandering husband or her sorrow may be due to the loss of a child.  A man's sorrow on the other hand maybe because he lost his material possessions or his misery is due his illness.

We all have tribulations of some sort. Others may be strong enough to overcome pain and suffering, while some will just succumb to it and finally give up.

My current tribulation is caused by a person pretending to be who he is not. Should I allow this person to tear me apart? If you're into some kind of distress, I'm sharing an excerpt of today's reading from Our Daily Bread that is keeping me strong, "In the midst of your life-changing trial, remember that God is still at work. He wants to use your "Cape Tribulation" experience to build your character. He has promised His grace to see you through (2 Cor. 12:9).

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,
knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
- James 1:2–3
