The Art of Ojiya at COCA Restaurant

Lugaw or rice porridge is one of my comfort foods so when I got an invite to learn The Art of Ojiya at COCA Restaurant I had to cancel an out-of-town trip.

The Art of Ojiya is derived from Khao Tom, which is a breakfast staple in Thailand. It is essentially porridge that can either be served plain or with a variety of ingredients. It is a mild and thin rice soup akin to a vegetable soup with lots of rice. It is made from pre-cooked rice and water seasoned and cooked with other ingredients such as meat, seafood, mushrooms, and vegetables.

At COCA, guests are encouraged to end their hotpot experience with the Ojiya – a delicious combination of rice slowly cooked in your hotpot broth with sesame oil, egg, spring onion and fried garlic.

No two Ojiyas are ever alike as each takes in all the flavor and character of one’s personalized hotpot experience. Every Ojiya gives a distinct flavorful experience so whatever hotpot combination is preferred, the Ojiya is definitely in for a warm and comforting finish.

At COCA, Ojiya is usually presented with 2 variations of soup – the Tom Yum, for those who prefer their base with added kick and spice; and the basic chicken stock, for a more traditional and simple base. Diners may then choose their ingredients to mix in the soup, be it vegetables and pork or beef, chicken or seafood.

Once the diners are comforted by the soup, the remaining ingredients will be mixed with steamed rice and cooked for about 10 to 15 minutes to produce a filling and flavorful congee. This is ‘The Art of Ojiya.’

Incidentally, Coca is also highlighting items in the menu that will definitely have customers want to come back for more.
Salted Egg Salad with Pork Belly and Shrimp, which is a favorite starter.

The Pacific Sunset, which is served with a king crab, squid, tiger prawns, pork sausage and corn is a hearty dish that can serve a big group. It goes with a hint of a variety of spices from around the world and may be enjoyed with rice or bread.

mesohyal® by mesoestetic®

Do you dread the signs of aging on your skin? Are you worried about the appearance of fine expression lines on your face?  The truth is over time, the skin stops producing hyaluronic acid, so the lack thereof results to the breakdown of skin tissue that leaves the skin dull and hoary. Hyaluronic acid is a transparent substance produced by our bodies that’s abundant in one’s skin tissue. It connects fibres giving the skin a smooth and firm appearance, and is known to retain large amounts of liquid.
Mesohyal, the solution to younger looking skin.

In aesthetic medicine, Hyaluronic acid is used as collagen booster to smoothen creases and wrinkles. It is injected directly into the areas suffering from dryness, where there are no muscles.
Mesoestetic, a Spanish brand and an international leader in the cosmetic medicine sector, launched an extensive range of medical skin care and luxury products about two decades ago, and has never stopped innovating the industry since then.

Mesohyal Hyaluronic, is just one of their facial, sun, and body treatments. It contains high concentration of Hyaluronic acid in gel form, obtained through bio-fermentation. It is perfect to hydrate and firm up a patient’s skin. Mesohyal Hyaluronic is not a filler, but it enhances the effects of fillers and botulinium toxin when used simultaneously.

Mesotherapy is the medical technique used by Mesoestetic to infuse the active ingredients of its products, by way of intradermal microinjections . This practice was first used by Dr Michel Pistor in France in the 1960s.

It was initially used only to treat pain and other diseases, but it was not long until its usefulness in aesthetic medicine was discovered.
Its popularity spread quickly throughout Europe because it is a safe, effective, and minimally invasive technique. As well as giving extremely good results, it is a complementary technique, which is perfectly compatible with other aesthetic treatments.
mesoestetic® presents mesohyal®
the latest generation of injectable products for mesotherapy treatments

Mesoestetic products are available in most dermatology clinics and skin care centers nationwide.

Lock&Lock “National Pa-Baon Month”

Most of the schools in the Philippine starts classes during the month of June that's why Global brand Lock & Lock, launched June 2016 as Lock&Lock “National Pa-Baon Month”. The launch was held earlier today at The Linden Suites, in Ortigas, Pasig City.

The President of Sawasdee Marketing Corporation, Mr. Raphael Chua, welcomed media and bloggers.

Mr. Robbie Ablen hosted Lock&Lock “National Pa-Baon Month Launch

Media and bloggers attended the event which started in the afternoon with short talk by a nutritionist on why it is important for kids to have 'baon' or packed snack/lunch.

As a mom, I know that preparing baon for my three children takes effort, but in the end, it benefits the young children to practice healthy eating.   The 8th National Nutrition Survey of the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) revealed that 9% of pre-school children aged 5-10 are overweight or obese. Among adolescents and teens 10-19 years old, the number is higher at 13%.  Overweight and obese children are more likely to stay obese into their adulthood and have a higher risk of developing diseases associated with obesity like Type-2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, various forms of cancer and other disorders at a younger age.

The campaign is timely and relevant as students begin the new school year. Bringing baon is a tradition that is not commonly practiced anymore due to the fast-paced lifestyle we live in. It is more convenient for parents to give children money to buy food in school. The problem arises in the quality and nutritional content of the food they buy.

Lock&Lock helps address this concern. The company will launch tips and recipes on preparing healthy baon choices that are easy to prepare via its Facebook page, Lock and Lock-Philippines; and Instagram, LockandLockPH. The company already introduced trendy Lunch Bags containing Lock&Lock food containers with the revolutionary 4-locking mechanism and resilient silicon seal. You can be sure that your child’s baon is kept fresh and safe longer without having to worry about any spillage. It is microwave, dishwasher and freezer safe too.

After a hearty lunch, Bento Mommas had a demo on preparing a more appealing baon to make sure that our kids eat healthy food.

The best part of the event was when I won 3rd place for the bento making of Hello Kitty. My Teen Blogger daughter beat me though. Julia won 2nd place . My mom blogger friend Millet won 1st place.

My winning entry
Join Lock&Lock and make June a successful “National Pa-Baon Month”!

Last week, ABS-CBN's call time to interview The Voice Kids Season 3 Coaches was set at 11am. I was there at 10:30am because I was too excited to meet Bamboo! Yes, I'm a big fan since the first day of his stint with Rivermaya.

It turned out that the interview with the coaches is after the first set of blind audition for The Voice Kids Season 3, which happened around 5:30pm.

Well, 7 hours of waiting just to see Bamboo up close is one for the record. I do not know if I can do it again. Well, maybe if it's Brad Pitt I'd say a week or two of waiting will be worth it.

Tune in tonight at 7:15pm at ABS-CBN for  ‪#‎VoiceKids3PH‬ .

Gerald Anderson

Going to Trinoma is not a regular thing for me. I only cover events at Trinoma when I like the brand or the celebrity/celebrities endorsing it.

Yesterdays event, Ipanema Perfect Pair  at the Trinoma Activity Center, was particularly important for me. First I like Ipanema a lot, and I like their newest endorser - Gerald Anderson.

I knew who Gerald Anderson was when he joined Pinoy Big Brother but I only became a fan of this good looking young actor when he completely disregarded his personal safety to help those affected by Ondoy back in 2009.

The call time for Ipanema Perfect Pair  with Gerald Anderson was 4pm. I was there at 3pm. I had a limited time because we had to hurry back home for Mama's insulin shot. To make the long story short, umeksena talaga ako to have a photo and video opportunity with Gerald Anderson. Kesehodang muntik na akong mahulog sa stage (hahaha). That was a one time opportunity I wouldn't miss.

My husband and children were with me. I knew they were kind a embarassed but not shocked. They know that I'm not the shy type of person, and they know just like BDO, "I find ways".

Salamat Gerald, mukha ka talagang mabait. Salamat din at nasalo mo ako, kundi bali ang buto ko, hahahaha!

Check out this video I captured...

you need to appreciate every moment.
a lot of people don't appreciate the moment until it's passed."

Ipanema Perfect Pair with Gerald Anderson at Trinoma Activity Center

Yesterdays event, Ipanema Perfect Pair  with Gerald Anderson at Trinoma Activity Center was definitely a fun, chic and colorful event as they presented their newest collection in a  romance-themed activity.

Through an exciting fashion show, the 3 chosen finalists – those who posted the best ‘selfeets’ in the online Facebook promo – took the runway to show off the distinct Ipanema summer styles: Sweet and Dainty, Sexy Chic, and Bold and Artsy! Adding more thrill and suspense, the participating girls picked a random Ipanema pair and modeled down the catwalk with their masks to hide their identities.

Each distinct Ipanema summer style was designed and is reflective of the different personas and tastes of Ipanema’s fun, fashionable wearers. “Ipanema knows that every wearer is unique,” shares ELRO Retail Corp. Head of Marketing Cecille Loretizo. “That is why for their newest collection, they’ve introduced three cool  and individual styles – all  designed to match different, free spirited personalities and identities.”

In addition, there were also a variety of booths, tailored for each Ipanema flipflop style, for the enjoyment of attendees: Nail Art,  Foot Spa, DIY Flower Crown, Foot sticker tattoo and Make-up and Hair Styling.

Cool Ukelele artists led by Theobromine Band and Mang Pedring as well as Aia de Leon of Imago added to the summer romance feel.

And to top it all, the lucky winner of Ipanema Perfect Pair got the chance to spend an unforgettable kilig date with Gerald Anderson, one of the hottest young actors today, plus an exciting all-expense paid trip to the Shangri-La Mactan, Cebu!

Hurry and check out the following   Ipanema summer style :
