Brigada Eskwela at City of Mandaluyong Science High School

To show my support and appreciation to MandSci for honing the intelligence of my twin kids, I accepted the responsibility of documenting Brigada Eskwela at City of Mandaluyong Science High School. It was my first time to join Brigada Eskwela  since Julia and Rafael used to study in private schools. I wasn't aware how big and important this activity is until today.

Aside from that, it was actually fun to join and be one among the other stakeho lders- principal, teachers, school staff, community and the city as a whole. It brought back that bayanihan feeling I grew up with. With this post, I hope to encourage more parents to be involve, join Brigada Eskwela and be a part of volunteerism that brings benefits first and foremost the students.

Brigada Eskwela is proof that an effective partnership between the government and citizens is possible.

About Brigada Eskwela:

To improve the country's public school education, DepEd addressed the issue through the Adopt-a-School Program (ASP) in 1998 and in order to reach even more people, DepEd brought the program to the communities in 2003 through Brigada Eskwela also known as the “Bayanihan Para sa Paaralan.
This initiative allowed a partnership with other stakeholders who are willing to share resources tIn a few years, the spirit of volunteerism reached 200 partners and generated P6 billion worth of programs and interventions.
