Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia Trip in 10 Days

John and I used to travel a lot but the last time we went on an out of the country trip was in 2001. We got busy as I took medical care under Dr. Roger Mendiola to conceive. Luckily, we had the twins in 2002. After 3 years I got pregnant again and gave birth in 2006. From then on, our travels were all Philippines bound, bringing the yayas and any relatives and friends who'd like to join us.

When the twins turned 7, I planned for a Hong Kong Disneyland tour but it was cancelled. Every year since then, I'd book and pay for a trip but would always be cancelled due to the class schedules of my kids and weather.  Last July, I booked a Singapore trip at the Travel Fair. I didn't tell my kids about it right away because I was afraid their class schedules might change again.

To cut the long story short, the weather and class schedules finally agreed and allowed us to travel. Again and again, I'm thankking my friends Ampeloquio Family, Vangie, Honey and Family for helping and accommodating us for this Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia Trip in 10 Days.

Singapore isn't only the most expensive city in Southeast Asia – it's the most expensive city in the world, topping the Economist Intelligence Unit's 2016 Worldwide Cost of Living survey for the third year in a row. HMR is a Place Where Special People Meet

John and I have been shoppers of HMR since they started many years ago. We like this store because they carry unique items from different countries, and they sell it at reasonable prices.

Aside from that, HMR is a place where special people meet. In this video, I'm not pertaining to Billy Crawford and his girlfriend na pilit na pilit ngumiti when I approached her. Billy was nice and accommodating though.

This post is all about Belle Baranda and Donna Donor.

Donna is my co-blogger. I remember her thru her son Kib. I'm a fan of Kib since day one I met him in an event. He is a very smart boy. Donna and I get to chat from time to time. There's trust between us. Yung wala kang mararamadamang arte. No holds barred kumbaga.

Belle, oh Belle. W'eve known each other online for almost 5 years because we have a common enemy (lol). We've planned to meet several times but to no avail.

Finally, nagkita din kami, accidentally at HMR. Kaya nga ang title ng post na ito ay HMR is a Place Where Special People Meet.

The Spa Trinoma

When it comes to massage, acupuncture or quiet family bonding I always go to Footzone in Makati. It is the place where I heal my mind, heart and soul.

Last week as I wait for my friend Lyn and co-blogger Nimfa, I decided to spend a serene time at The Spa Trinoma. I've been to other The Spa branches in the past but the therapists assigned before were not that good in terms of massaging.

This time, with Kaina, I was happy with her service.  She was able to hit the spot, the body part, that needed healing.

Shoutout also to the very nice and accommodating receptionist, Trish, who looks a  lot like Kim Chiu and some Korean superstars.

Gratitude to Ms. Naida Acosta of housekeeping for keeping me company
while I wait for the Spa to open. I was there an hour early.  She helped me find my way.
I couldn't see anything because I forgot to bring my glasses (forgetfulness = to aging).

can be very beautiful and healing."

Baked Pork Ribs

Juancho kept me awake until 1am. He insisted Vanj, Julia and I are look-alikes of some Korean supertars. He even Googled their photos and made a collage to prove his point.

After proving his point, he slept soundly while I tossed and turned. So as not to waste time tossing, turning and scratching, at 2am I decided to go to the market. The only available meet was pork ribs since I'm too early for the market. With nothing in mind as to what to do with the ribs, I just grabbed whatever is available in the cupboard and the ref.

This is my first time to do this viand. I first boiled the ribs, as advised by the people in the market. I boiled it for 2 hours. Then I marinated it for an hour using McCormick BBQ Marinade. Lastly, I baked the ribs along with the tomaroes, baby potatoes, bell peppers and onions.

Since I still cannot sleep, at 6am I baked the Tipapia fillet with the same McCormick BBQ Marinade. Then cooked Sinigang na Pork Ribs.

The verdict: John and the kids liked it except that John said I should've gotten the ribs with no cartillage. Next time I know just what to do.

Vivo Showcases World’s First Ready-to-Produce In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Smartphone

In Las Vegas, USA today at CES 2018, Vivo, a young global smartphone brand, showcases the world’s first ready-to-produce in-display fingerprint scanning smartphone that draws attention from a global audience. Leading with distinct innovative breakthroughs, the futuristic Vivo in-display fingerprint scanning smartphone offers consumers an unprecedented mobile experience, defining a new era of mobile interaction.

According to statistics from global consultancy Canalys, smartphone vendors shipped 22 million full-screen smartphones worldwide in the second quarter in 2017, up from 700,000 in the first quarter of this year. UBI Research predicted that bezel-less displays will grow in market share from 20% in 2017 to over 50% by 2020. Fingerprint recognition has long been one of the most common and well-known biometrics used to secure smartphones. As the industry moves into a new era of full-screen displays, it is natural that the fingerprint scanning technology needs to evolve to accommodate new user habits and demands for bigger screens without sacrificing user experience.

“With our efforts in extensive consumer research and long-term R&D investment, Vivo is well positioned to pioneer the development of fingerprint scanning technology. We first presented a prototype of our fingerprint scanning solution at MWC Shanghai 2017 based on an ultrasonic sensor, and have remained committed to realizing our vision for future smartphones,” said Alex Feng, Senior Vice President of Vivo. “Today’s showcase of a ready-to-produce in-display fingerprint scanning smartphone featuring an optical fingerprint sensor is a big leap forward in bringing consumers this long-awaited, futuristic mobile experience. We are very excited to make it available to consumers soon.”

Innovation that Delivers a New Level of User Experience

Vivo’s full-production smartphone is equipped with the industry-leading, world’s first in-display fingerprint scanning technology supported by global partner Synaptics.

Vivo In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Technology supports various usage scenarios beyond unlocking the smartphone, and is only activated when needed. A graphical UI will show up on Vivo’s smartphone screen in any scenario that fingerprint recognition is required, such as when the screen is off, during software unlocking, or even mobile payment authentication. Users can press the fingerprint graphic on the screen to perform unlocking, payment and other operations. When fingerprint recognition is not required, the UI will be invisible and will not disrupt the overall visual experience.

Vivo In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Technology outperforms other authentication solutions available for full-screen smartphones in many aspects. Compared to fingerprint sensors on the back of smartphones, Vivo In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Technology offers a more convenient operation without sacrificing the sleek and unified design of the smartphone. It also enables quick and secured authentication.

Full-screen displays are set to deliver a more immersive user experience for consumers as various interactions will be integrated and consolidated on the display. Vivo In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Technology replaces the physical fingerprint button on the screen, laying the foundation for a truly immersive experience.

The showcasing of the world’s first in-display fingerprint scanning smartphone ready for mass-production marks a significant leap forward in the industry’s development, taking users’ smartphone experience to a new level. The availability of Vivo’s first in-display fingerprint scanning smartphone will be announced in early 2018.

Pot Gardening

If you've been following this blog, you know how I'm into cacti and succulents since last year. This 2018, I've tried pot gardening for the first time.  If you want to do the same but don't know how. check how I started using a small Christmas candy basin, small Christmas houses decor, cacti and succulents.

There's almost no restriction on what to use as a planter, you can actually use a dish bowl that you haven't used for a long time, If you want a bigger pot garden, you may use a laundry basin. As long as the dirt stays in and the water drains out, you're good to grow.

This project took me just an hour to complete.

Archbishop's Palace

I posted this last 2014 and reposting today for my niece and inaanak Yna. I also updated the rental fee for those who'll be interested to have Archbishop's Palace

John and I originally wanted our wedding ceremony to be held at Santuario Del Sto. Crsito in San Juan because it's the church of Aquinas School where John was an alumni. Unfortunately, our wedding day was on a Monday. Santuario didn't have a Monday wedding schedule.

Many of our friends suggested big churches like Manila Cathedral but our wedding reception dinner was booked at Edsa Shangri-La Hotel that's why we wanted a church near the area for an easy travel for all our guests.

My sister in law, Manet, told us about Archbishop's Palace in Villa San Miguel. John and I checked the place and we immediately fell in love with it. The place is easy to find whether coming from North or South. The area is full of trees and plants. It's clean and has a big parking space. It's a perfect intimate wedding venue for us! Who knows, it could be yours or your friend's perfect venue too.

Big chapel, airconditioned, capacity of 150 people. Rental fee P14,500.
It used to be P3,500 during my wedding in 2000

If on a budget, you might prefer their small, non-aircon chapel. Rental fee is P8,500

L' Entrecote's Grilled Marinated Salmon

L' entrecote is known for its famous steak and other Swiss – French-inspired cuisine. I don't eat steak at L' entrecote not because it does not taste great but because my doctor advised me not to have steak.
I keep going back there because of Grilled Marinated Salmon and their freshly baked bread.

At P595, L' Entrecote's Grilled Marinated Salmon can be shared by two persons so I ordered 2 for me and my kids.
