Giant Clam Sanctuary in Samal

Taklobo is a local term for Giant Clams. I learned this from Nino of La Vida Orchard Bed and Breakfast as he encouraged as to visit Giant Clam Sanctuary. Taklobos are one of the most endangered clam species and these clams can be seen in Samal and under the protection of Davao del Norte State College.

If you are planning to explore Samal Island, you should not miss the Giant Clam Sanctuary. It's located at the white sand islet across from Barangay Adecor, the fishing village beside Pearl Farm Resort. John and I had a good look at Pearl Farm on the way to Giant Clam Sanctuary in Samal.

They collect a P100.00 per head entrance fee to sustain the project of taking care of the taklobos. Bring mask and snorkel (and life vest if you're not a good swimmer). If you don't have these, a rental fee of Php 100.00 per head for mask and snorkel. I forgot the rate for rash guard. They also have a GoPro rental for 300. Price per boat is Php 500.00 with a maximum capacity of 5 people.
