The Equalizer 2 Review

The 2014 film The Equalizer is about the mysterious and elusive Robert McCall who delivered vigilante justice that was a huge success so many have waited for its sequel, including my husband and I.

The Equalizer 2 is again directed by Antoine Fuqua and reunited with the main actor, Denzel Washington.  The sequel started interesting as McCall is able to hit the ground running by saving a girl being kidnapped by his own father and a few other scenes where McCall saves innocent people.

The movie though slows down in the middle when the story capitalized on the thin back story of Robert's past life and the mysterious death of his friend, Susan. The movie tried its best to have a surprising twist on who the villains are.  Unfortunately, the result is unsatisfying.

Altogether, the  twist, story and fight scenes aren't enough to meet our expectations and excitement. The Equalizer 2 failed big time.  My husband fell asleep in the middle of the movie. John never, as in never sleeps, in the movie house. This is the first time. If it weren't for Denzel Washington, we'd give The Equalizer 2 a rating of 1 out of 5, instead we're giving it 2  out of 5.
