Ethereal Ball

My three children studied in private schools from preparatory school to elementary. My husband and I were used to just paying whatever the school tells us to pay. It is a lot different in public or government-run school because collection of money in whatever amount is unlawful.

I was active in General Parents and Teachers Association (GPTA) since twins Julia and Rafael were in Grade 7 so I'm quite aware of activities, specifically Ball or Parties, that were rejected because of monetary collection issues.

By the time the twins are in Grade 8, many of their friends, classmates and batch mates were telling me they wanted to have a Graduation Ball since Junior and Senior Prom is not practiced in MandSci.

To avoid the same dilemma that the previous batch of students and parents experienced, the Moving Up Committee, headed by our Chairman Rafael Mendiola Jr., made sure we go by the  books. We ran a survey among the Students of Batch 2019 if they wanted a Ball. Then we ran a survey for the venue. Then we ran a survey again what food they want. It was actually a long process and planning.

Although there were some questions, mostly on safety issues, I'd like to give credit to all the parents of Grade 10 - Batch 2019 because everyone were cooperative of this endeavor.

This Ethereal Ball wouldn't have been this awesome without the hardworking Moving Up Committee. Special mention to Mommy Loui Fermiza, Mommy Carmela Austria and Mommy Emily Siquioco. Sila ang matyatyagang mag paroo't parito sa Divisoria, Recto, Quiapo at kung saan-saang lugar para makatipid ng todo. They even pay for their own fare and food at madalas abonado pa sa ibang gastusin.

Hats off to Mr. Gani and Mrs. Brigitte Mauleon for sponsoring the stage backdrop, the ideas of the flower balls and more. Sir Gani took time out from his busy schedule to be the official photographer. You must see in Facebook the photos he shot for all the students.

Papuri kay Mother Eleanor Fermiza na kahit di sya kasama sa committee she was always helping us. Sya din ang nangulit kay Former Mayor Benhur Abalos para mapayagan kami sa Wack Wack Golf and Country Club.

Pasasalamat kay Sir Vic and Ma'am Winnie for hosting this event kahit na short notice at walang preparations.

Sa lahat ng mga Batang MandSci na nag perform, maraming salamat sa inyong time and effort!

Sa lahat ng mga Batang MandSci, kapuri-puri kayo sa pagdating sa tamang oras. We started on the dot kaya mahaba ang time to partey partey!

Last but certainly not the least, gratitude to my husband for being a good leader. John is a very private person. He'd rather stay home than socialize. But, for the students, he made himself available for school year 2018-2019. He has proven himself fair and square as well. Walang palakasan na nangyari. Even our closest friends and parents, and his co-GPTA officers were not allowed to stay in the ballroom kaya naging smooth ang flow ng gabing ito.

In summary, this Ethereal Ball will not be made possible without the cooperation of everybody.

"Competition has been shown to be useful up to a certain point
and no further, but cooperation,
which is the thing we must strive for today,
begins where competition leaves off."
