It was a hectic day for John and I as we attended three events yesterday, starting at 10 in the morning in Makati City. Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) Digital Ecosystem

Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) announced today its digital ecosystem to make everyday financial transactions more convenient with nine partners with 36 services for open banking and the most extensive list of online banking and mobile app features of any local bank.

BPI Chief Operating Officer Mon Jocson said BPI has made mundane financial tasks such as loading beepTM cards or e-wallets, ordering meals or splitting bills, sending and receiving money, scheduling branch appointments, or placing money for investment accounts easier with just a smartphone or a computer.

“This digital ecosystem will enable our clients to shift to digital behaviors for their everyday tasks, said Jocson. “Digital transformation is not just about applying technology. It’s also about changing mindsets and culture, from the inside out.”

“Culture is a key determinant of a successful digital transformation, we acknowledge this and we are working on it. We can’t afford to adopt the latest in digital technology tools without changing the way we think of ourselves and our place in customers’ lives,” he added.

The nine partners for open banking are businesses with which BPI has agreed to open up its API, or application program interface, and vice versa, in order to facilitate transactions of mutual clients of BPI and each of the partners. APIs are communication protocols that determine how software components should share information or interact.

These partners include fintechs and online merchants such as GCash, Paymaya, and Lazada, to name a few.

Noel Santiago, BPI Chief Digital Officer, added that another component of BPI's ecosystem are the digital channels that include the BPI Online website, bpi.com.ph, and BPI Mobile app.

He said BPI has the most number of features available among local banks: 70 for online banking and 40 for the mobile app.

“BPI's digital ecosystem make digital financial transactions frictionless for clients. We are proud to say that we are leading the industry with these features that we come up with almost every month. Being relevant to our customers is important to us as we expand and integrate our presence in their everyday needs and lifestyle," he said.

Some of these new features include scheduling appointments via BPI Online, taking control of card usage through withdrawal limits, setting for into international use, and temporarily blocking debit cards.

Furthermore, the bank launched its upgraded digital banking assistant, Bea, which is the first conversational banking app in the Philippines. This makes the banking experience more convenient and easy for clients to transact via voice.

In the last ten years, there was an increase of 656% in BPI's enrolled digital users, and a 1,683% increase in transaction volume. As of end-2018, there was a 37% penetration rate for digital users.

Neil Valenton at 50

I wouldn't miss this special Golden Birthday Celebration of my friend kasi sa dami ng kaibigan ko sya lang ang nakaalalang pumunta sa bahay namin nung 18th birthday ko. Wala kasing handa noon kasi my Mama was battling kidney problems.

I'm proud and joyful for Neil for achieving all that success that he has now - a great wife and children, a prolific business, and  yet he remain as a humble person.

Happy 50th Birthday, Neil!

Earl of Sandwich

Monday is my favorite day and I'm happy to be invited to have a taste of Earl of Sandwich. Ms. Marissa Florete-Gorriceta, EVP - Marketing and Merchandising, F and C Group of Companies and Alex Garland - Managing Director for Europe, Middle East and Asia, welcomed media and bloggers.

As legend has it in 1762, John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, invented the meal that changed dining forever. It is said he was playing cards and did not want to leave the gaming table to eat. He asked for a serving of roast beef to be placed between two slices of bread so he could eat with his hands

What can I say? Since after this event, I've been eating there for 4 days because of the bread's perfect crunch on the outside yet still chewy inside. I like the tomato soup a lot! It goes well with any sandwich!

Among the menu that we had - Earl's Cobb Salad, Tomato Soup, The Earl's Club, The Full Montagu, The Original 1762, Spaghetti Carbonara, Spicy Shrimp Pasta, Hand-Crafted Wraps, Buffalo Chicken and Spicy Tuna. My personal favorites are Earl's Cobb Salad, Tomato Soup, The Earl's Club and Spicy Shrimp Pasta.

Keep a Clear Conscience

Today's reading is from  Rick Warren "Keep a Clear Conscience"

Feeling guilty or ashamed can cause us to lose our happiness. You’ve got to get rid of guilt and maintain a clear conscience if you want to be happy, because you cannot feel guilty and be happy at the same time.

You might say, “I’d like to be happy, but how do I keep my conscience clear when it’s not clear right now?” Do what Psalm 32:1-2 says: “What happiness for those whose guilt has been forgiven! What joys when sins are covered over! What relief for those who have confessed their sins and God has cleared their record” (TLB).

Happiness, joy, and relief are three things everybody’s looking for in life. We all want to be happy. We all want to enjoy life. We all want relief from our pain. The Bible says it all comes from purity, and purity comes from forgiveness through God’s grace.

How do you keep a clear conscience?
At the beginning and at the end of every day, do a spiritual inventory. Talk to God about anything that is standing between you and him, and then deal with the junk from your day. You practice what’s called spiritual breathing—you breathe out your sins in confession and you breathe in God’s power and cleansing: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9 NIV).

Lord, I want to lay before you all that weighs heavy on my heart. Reveal even the sin I am not aware of, Lord. I lay these at your feet and pray your forgiveness on me.Thank you Lord for your unending love for me! Help me start fresh right now to make choices that honor you. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Mama's 69th Birthday at Max's Scout Tuazon

We were not sure what to do for Mama's 69th Birthday because normally she'd just like to have dinner at home. A day before Mama's special day, my husband told me Mama wants to have dinner at her favorite Max's Restaurant, Max's Scout Tuazon.

Though John was able to reserve seats for us, I didn't have enough time to make a special arrangement to surprise Mama. I tried calling the branch five hours prior to our arrival but to no avail.

Upon our arrival, I talked to the manager on duty if we can be accommodated in one of the private rooms. They did more than that! They even put up a birthday tarpaulin for Mama!  Thank you to all the people of Max's Scout Tuazon, you made Mama very happy!

Long Skirt

I like long or maxi skirts even when I was a young girl but I had no guts to wear them before because  of wrong idea I heard, "short or petite girls should avoid wearing long skirts because it'll make them look shorter."

Fast forward to thirty years, I'm happily enjoying long skirts because it makes me feel sexy and flirty Not to mention its  fashionable way to cover up my short and muscular legs.😀

Long skirt is once again in trend, no matter if you are skinny or fat you can still rock the maxi skirts. This skirt is best suitable during summer season. Skirt fashion is an uncomplicated way to look stylish easily.

Here's what I wore for Sister Maria Martina Morales' Profession last week in Franciscan Sisters of Immaculate in Talisay, Batangas.

I chose to pair a white well-fitted blousewhich I bought in Korea last year because it is simple and not over the top. White blouses always look good with a maxi, it makes long skirt outfit looks smart and not shabby. The golden rule when it comes to dressing casually while wearing a long skirt outfit is 'less is more'. Always opt for a solid round neck or tops to wear with long skirts which are floral or patterned. This allows your maxi to stand out.

As for the footwear, I opted to wear Grendha strapped sandals for a sexier and feminine vibe.

Accessorizing is very important when wearing long skirt. I chose to wear Kipling rubber bracelet. The necklace is actually DIY. The pendant is a keychain which I hooked to my old long pearl necklace. The Dolche and Gabbana is my  oldest  shades which I won from Family Feud when we joined in 2001.

Lastly, don't forget to wear your most beautiful smile and enjoy the moment!

Cagsawa Ruins

The first time we went at Cagsawa Ruins was 5 years ago. We went around to buy pasalubong, eat sili ice cream, laing and other Bicol foods.

On our recent trip we didn't stay long because it was raining. We just took funny, crazy photos with optical illusion.
