Mount Kulis

Day 77 of 2021 - Enjoyed the day, sea of clouds, sun, waterfalls and food. Most of all we had a wonderful day with cool, happy, strong and amazing ladies and gents! 💓

Mount Kulis is popular for its sea of clouds and its majestic view of the Sierra Madre mountain range. I only heard about Mount Kulis in Tanay, Rizal thru my beautiful Yoga Teacher Arlene. We've been talking about this since the lockdown and we could not wait to see this popular destination amongsts celebrities. Even Kardo has his own kubo there because that's where they used to shoot for Ang Probinsyano.

Many of the articles and blog I read said that Mount Kulis is a fairly easy hike. I beg to disagree, it will always depend on the person and the weather. I personally think it would be an easy trek if  you visit Mount Kulis during the colder "ber months".

Teacher Arlene booked us for all tour destinations, Camp A and Camp B, that covers the whole of Fresno Agro Forestry and Eco Tourist Campsite for only P300 per person + 500 tour guide fee good for 5 person.

If you plan to go on on a hike at Mount Kulis, here's what to expect:

1. You have to book your visit through Fresno Agro Forestry and Eco Tourist Campsite on Facebook. The camp resort is located at Sitio Maysawa, Brgy. Cuyambay, Tanay, Rizal.

2. The summit of Mount Kulis, Sambong Peak or Heart Peak, Spider Web, and Noah’s Ark are located in Camp A. A Kubo at Camp A has become a popular tourist spot in the camp resort. It is referred to as "Bahay ni Cardo," since it was used as a shooting location for ABS-CBN's prime-time series FPJ'S Ang Probinsyano.

3.  Lion's House Falls, hanging bridge, and the river pool, Twin Rock formation, the Malinaw falls, and the cave are  located in Camp B.

4. Fresno Agro Forestry and Eco Tourist Campsite charges an entrance fee of PHP200 for day trips. This allows you to explore spots from either of the two areas in the resort from 4 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

5.  Those staying overnight from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 a.m., the entrance fee is PHP300.

6.  Both routes require a mandatory tour guide for a fee of PHP500. This rate is good for a group of five people. There's an additional tour guide fee of PHP200 if you want to visit the Twin Rock, the Malinaw falls, and the cave on Camp B.

7.  Rates are higher for those who want to visit all of the mentioned sites. The entrance fee is PHP300 for day trips or PHP500 for overnight visits, while the mandatory tour guide fee is PHP700. If your tour guide is staying with your group overnight, the rate is PHP1,250.

8.  If your joining a group tour under a hike organizer, rates may vary depending on the inclusions of their package.

9.  Visitors are required to present the following: valid ID, booking confirmation which will be sent through e-mail by the staff

10. The camp resort is also implementing a CLAYGO "clean as you go" policy.

11. The camp resort is also implementing Quiet Time which starts at 10:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m

12.  Bring enough food and water. Cooking is allowed but only through a butane stove. Bonfires and cooking with charcoal are strictly prohibited at the summit. Your other option to cook food is their paluto service in the sari-sari store inside the resort. Their rates for paluto is determined onsite.

13.  Wear comfortable hiking outfits. For those staying overnight, bring a jacket to keep you warm  at night.

14. Visitors can pitch their own tents on the campsite. There is a pitching fee of PHP200 per tent. You can also rent a tent available on the site for PHP400 (good for two) or PHP600 (good for four), inclusive of mattings

15. If you plan to hike during summer days, be sure to start as early as possible to avoid exposure to the harmful rays of the sun.
