Day 76 of 2021 - "We all fail, every day. There are somethings we just can't succeed at no matter how hard we try." - Mr. Brown, The Dig Movie
Ang bigat ng kamay ng medtech! Kahapon pa tong blood extraction, til now masakit pa din.
Nothing serious though. This is just a quartery TSH-IRMA to monitor my thyroid. 20 years into this, same hospital, same doc. Buhay at malakas pa din naman ako. Kaya it is important to enjoy life to the fullest para pag time's up na, walang nasayang na panahon. 💓
It is best to consult a doctor for proper medication and diagnosis. For my thyroid matters, I have been seeing Dr. Augusto Litonjua in Makati Medical Center for 20 years now. I am monitored well by him and his co-doctors.
What is TSH IRMA? Measurement of Pituitary Production of TSH. Pituitary production of TSH is measured by a method referred to as IRMA (immunoradiometric assay). Normally, low levels (less than 5 units) of TSH are sufficient to keep the normal thyroid gland functioning properly
High TSH levels can mean your thyroid is not making enough thyroid hormones, a condition called hypothyroidism. Low TSH levels can mean your thyroid is making too much of the hormones, a condition called hyperthyroidism. A TSH test does not explain why TSH levels are too high or too low
What are normal TSH levels?
TSH normal values are 0.5 to 5.0 mIU/L. Pregnancy, a history of thyroid cancer, history of pituitary gland disease, and older age are some situations when TSH is optimally maintained in different range as guided by an endocrinologist. FT4 normal values are 0.7 to 1.9ng/dL
How do I get my TSH levels down?
Taking certain vitamin supplements can have an effect on your thyroid health. Low thyroid hormones can affect your body's vitamin B-12 levels. Taking a vitamin B-12 supplement may help you repair some of the damage hypothyroidism caused. Vitamin B-12 can help with the tiredness thyroid disease can cause.
What should I eat if my TSH is high?
There are plenty of food options for people with hypothyroidism, including:
eggs: whole eggs are best, as much of their iodine and selenium are found in the yolk, while the whites are full of protein.
meat: all meats, including lamb, beef, chicken, etc.
fish: all seafood, including salmon, tuna, halibut, shrimp, etc
