How to Hand Pollinate Watermelon Flowers

Day 157 of 2021 -  With their bright hue and cheery personality,  these yellow watermelon flowers helps better my day. Sa susunod pakwan na yan! 💛

Watermelon vines bear male and female flowers. Don't be alarmed when some of the male flowers, which appear first, fall off shortly after they open; they are followed by female blossoms about a week later. The female flowers, which have a small swelling at the base of the flower, stay on the vine to bear fruit.

Flowers of edible plants are generally a good choice. ... Squash, pumpkin, watermelon, and cucumber blossoms (but not gourd blossoms) are used in a number of ways: in fritters, as a garnish, and as colorful accents for a salad.

How to hand pollinate? Take your cotton swab. And get around the edges of the center of the male flower, then swab it onto the female flower.
