Guevarra's Grand Opening

I've been to Guevarra's a few months ago.  I thought it already had its grand opening before because this  huge, 1940's Filipino home-turned spa before and now transformed by Chef Laudico's newest venture into haute Filipino cuisine – buffet style, is always jampacked by diners, be it lunch, merienda or dinner.

Early this afternoon, Guevarra's by Chef Laudico had its grand opening with no less than Senator JV Ejercito, Mayor Guia Gomez and Vice Mayor Francis Zamora as honorable guests.

You can see evidence of both Chinese and Spanish influence in Guevarra's architecture and interior design. The current owners decided to whitewash the walls to bring out the beauty of the details that were left bare – from the symmetrical wood paneling to the prominent wooden arch decorated with sinuous, riotous vines.

Filipino dances were performed by Folk Dance Troupe

Mark Mabasa  serenaded guests with his heartwarming rendition

Guevarra's love affair with Filipino artistry is present as their grand opening coincides with an exhibit featuring the work of Artist Vincent Padilla, aptly titled “Time Taken by Brushstrokes”.  The artist has his roots in San Juan, honed his talent in Antipolo where he met and spent time with artists from the acclaimed Grupong Saling Pusa such as Elmer Borlongan, Mark Justiniani and Manny Garibay. Then enrolled in University of the Philippines Diliman. He has joined numerous art competitions and won acclaim as the Juror's Choice Awardee in 2003 during the Philip Morris Philippine Art Awards, which led him to represent our country in the 2004 Art Awards which were held in Bangkok, Thailand that year.

Artist Vincent Padilla did Chef Jackie and Chef Roland'd portrait
Artist Vincent Padilla's equally talented daughter performed piano/organ.
Bobby Yan hosted the event

If you're looking for a place to indulge your love of all things Filipino – from food to architecture to fine art – look no further, not only will you walk away with a full belly – you will also have a beautiful backdrop for your photo memories, a “must” in this Insta-everything day and age.

Guevarra's is the best place to host just about any event. Name it, wedding, debut, reunion, small meeting, birthday party – they can handle your food and other requirements.
